Our Programs
Our Mission for a Sustainable Future
Our initiatives aim to foster a more sustainable future in underserved communities. We are dedicated to continuously increasing the number of individuals we support and the lives we positively influence. Rural to Action prioritizes empowering children and youths to create social impact within their local communities to promote meaningful and sustainable change.
Our Program Areas
Community Health
We conduct community health outreach programs to bring health services closer to people. Aiming to promote health services uptake, Social behaviour change SBC. Focusing on Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Reproductive Health and Child Health.
Youth Empowerment
We empower youths through entrepreneurship, business management skills training, village savings and loaning (VSLA), income-generating skills: Soap making, Beading, craft work, fashion, and design. We promote sustainability through youth groups formation and establisment of groups businesses.
Education
We believe that education and employment give people the inner strength to lead a better life. We partner with rural primary schools to give everyday school meals to children, mentor learners, and give learning resources to schools.
What we care for
Communities possess the ability to address the world’s most urgent issues, as noted by WHO. At Rural to Action, we hold the belief that meaningful change originates within the community, fueled by commitment and compassion. These core values ignite our dedication to community-led transformation.
Our initiatives in community-driven health advocacy, social behavior change, food security practices, and skills training not only foster positive change but also create lasting social impact.
School Breakfast Meals
The double burden of malnutrition weighs heavily on Kenya’s school-age children and adolescents, who make up a significant portion of the population at 36%. The World Health Organization advocates for food systems that prioritize healthy, sustainable diets to address the burden of malnutrition, especially in developing nations like Kenya. Children trek several miles in rural communities to catch up on schoolwork, some on empty stomachs, while those who get meals at home arrive at school exhausted for learning. This results poor health, school absenteeism, and poor education outcomes. Rural to Action partners with rural primary schools and parents to provide an everyday nutritious porridge to children. Started with 100 children, we envision to feed 10,000 children by 2030
Youth Economic Empowement
We empower the youth by providing training in entrepreneurship and business management skills, along with village savings and loaning (VSLA). Our programs also focus on income-generating skills such as soap making, beading, crafts, fashion, and design. Additionally, we foster sustainability through youth groups and the creation of startup businesses.
Community Tourism
Rural to Action welcomes volunteers, students, travelers, and groups to our community to learn through cultural exchange, share, and contribute to sustainable community development. Through immersive community experiences (Local meals, songs and dances, language, and cultural history) while engaging in our program projects that promote education, food security, environmental conservation, community health, and youth empowerment. Whether supporting school meals programs, participating in climate-smart agriculture, or exploring our cultural tourism initiatives, every participant becomes part of a growing movement to build stronger, healthier, and more resilient rural communities.
