About Us

Rural to Action Organization is a registered, non-profit, community-based organization working towards empowering young minds and creating sustainable social impact in rural communities in Kenya. Started in 2022 as a peer mentorship group for teen mothers guided by mentors. The group was then officially registered under the Community Groups Registration Act No. 30 of 2022 and the Kenyan Constitution as Community-Based Organization Registration No: CBO/HUD/HB/0449/2023. Founded on values of compassion, inclusivity, and sustainability, we are devoted to breaking the cycles of school-age hunger among children in rural primary schools and poverty through youth economic empowerment, access to health. Rural to Action envisions enhancing the lives of children and youths in rural Homabay communities.

Making the world a better place

Rural to Action is on a mission to make the world a better place through generosity and community-led social entrepreneurship. We strive to create positive change through our everyday cup of porridge for children, youth entrepreneurship skills training, and community outreach programs.

Our History

Homabay is one of the counties burdened by the triple threat, high teenage pregnancies, gender-based violence, and HIV/AIDS. Established out of compassion, Rural to Action started as a youth peer mentorship group for teen mothers in the rural village in Homabay. Taking responsive care of adolescent mothers through mentorship and psychosocial support, our founders had the vision to create a shift in the lives of young girls in their teen motherhood, mentoring, giving entrepreneurship skills, child nurturing, and linking the girls to opportunities, including back-to-school re-entry. Our founders envisioned a transformative impact on the lives of young girls navigating teen motherhood with a mission is to create positive change and empower young girls and their children in their journey.

Funding

Rural to Action is currently funded by grants, individual donations, and corporate sponsorships. We work with partner organizations; individuals whose values and vision align with us. However, we are building a sustainable structure through social entrepreneurship, including income-generating activities to sustain our social impact.
